SLIPPERY ELM SELECT™ provides a unique blend of two gut healing ingredients: organic Slippery Elm bark powder and a superior quality Boswellia extract standardized to contain 65% boswellic acids. Together, these ingredients help protect, repair and support mucosal integrity in the GI lining.

The dried inner bark of the Slippery Elm tree is rich in mucilaginous demulcent and emollient compounds that help to calm inflamed mucus membranes and skin irritations on contact. Slippery Elm also helps to stimulate the body’s own production of mucus, a protective substance secreted by mucosal tissues lining the gastrointestinal tract. Slippery Elm is frequently employed for its coating and antitussive properties and is a traditional Native American remedy for GI irritations. In addition to soothing demulcents, Slippery Elm bark powder contains small amounts of astringent tannins that may be helpful in firming up loose stools, and very low levels of analgesic salicylic acid. It is one of the four ingredients in Essiac, and the primary ingredient in SLIPPERY ELM SELECT™.

Boswellia serrata (also known as Indian Frankincense) is a resinous plant extract with researched antioxidant properties. Boswellia has been well-studied for its ability to help support a healthy inflammatory response, particularly when pain and stiffness are present. Animal research suggests that Boswellia extract helps to protect intestinal barrier cells from free radical damage and decreases inflammatory biomarkers such as lipid peroxide (LPO) and TNF-alpha in experimental models of gut inflammation. In patients with intestinal inflammation, Boswellia serrata extract has been suggested to help reduce symptom severity and improve quality of life.

SLIPPERY ELM SELECT™ is a pleasant tasting powder that may be mixed with warm or cool water and taken between meals to assist in the maintenance and repair of a normal, healthy GI lining. This product is rigorously tested for purity and potency both pre- and post-manufacture and has been independently verified gluten-free.
